Legal Assistant
Location: San Diego, CA (In-office Attendance Required 3-5 Days Per Week)
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Compensation: $80,000-$100,000 Annually + Benefits
Reports to: Firm Administrator / Managing Attorney
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and appellate court filing rules and procedures, supported by a strong litigation background
- Proficient in e-filing systems and calendaring processes
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a legal assistant in civil litigation
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills

- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to independently handle multiple cases while working collaboratively within a partner-driven team.

Complex Litigation Attorney - San Diego
Rosing Pott & Strohbehn LLP is a San Diego-based litigation boutique serving clients throughout California and Arizona. Our nationally recognized Professional Liability team defends and advises California and Arizona lawyers — including prominent AmLaw firms — in litigation, arbitration, and State Bar matters. Our Business and IP Litigation team handles complex federal litigation involving trade secrets, defamation, trademark and contractual disputes, and TTAB proceedings. We regularly practice with and against AmLaw 100 firms.
We have an immediate opening for an experienced litigation associate with 3–8 years of complex civil litigation experience.
The Work
- Substantive ownership of cases from pleadings through trial: strategy, discovery, depositions, motion practice, and hearings.
- Drafting demurrers, MSJs, oppositions, and appellate-quality briefs.
- Appearing in state and federal court, mediations, and arbitrations.
- Direct client contact and partner collaboration.
- Active trial practice. Associates participate at counsel table and contribute to firm-wide case strategy sessions.
Qualifications
- J.D. and current good standing with the California State Bar (Arizona admission a plus).
- 3–8 years of substantive complex litigation experience — professional liability, commercial, IP, trade secrets, or related.
- Strong motion practice and brief-writing track record, including dispositive motions.
- Ability and desire to run cases independently while collaborating with partners and team.
- Comfort in a cloud-based legal tech environment (NetDocuments, Clio, etc.).
Compensation and Advancement
- Base salary $170,000–$210,000, commensurate with experience, plus discretionary bonus.
- 1,800 billable-hour target.
- Origination credit for business development for partners.
- Partnership track: eligibility after 7 years of practice and a minimum of 3 years with the firm. Timeline is negotiable for lateral hires.

Rosing Pott & Strohbehn LLP is a San Diego-based litigation boutique with a growing Arizona practice. Our nationally recognized Professional Liability team defends lawyers — including prominent AmLaw firms — in litigation, arbitration, and bar disciplinary matters. Our firm also practices at the forefront of ABS and MSO formation issues. Our Business and IP Litigation team handles complex federal litigation involving trade secrets, defamation, trademark and contractual disputes, and TTAB proceedings. We regularly practice with and against AmLaw 100 firms. We have an open position for a litigation associate with 3–8 years of experience to handle complex cases venued in Arizona. The role is fully remote within Arizona, with periodic travel for court appearances, depositions, and team meetings.

- Appearing in Arizona state and federal court, mediations, and arbitrations.

Qualifications

- Significant experience litigating in Arizona state and federal courts with strong knowledge of civil procedure and rules of court.
